These vacuum gauge filters are designed to trap things like solid particles, condensable gases, and pump oil droplets (among other things) that may enter the sensor and contaminate the filaments. It consists of a three-stage optically dense baffle and should be installed between the vacuum gauge and vacuum chamber. The top connection is a 1/8” NPT female fitting. The filter may be installed in any position although the most effective position is vertical with the threads facing down.
It is recommended that the filter be removed and cleaned periodically with benzene or another solvent followed by an acetone rinse and blown out with compressed air or an inert gas. Use of the filter is recommended in any system where the vacuum gauge is subject to contamination from the system, and it is effective in systems where contamination is present in prolonging the life of the vacuum gauge.
