What has changed since you started working with the company?
So much has changed; I’d say one of the primary changes is that the company has embraced and implemented new technology in design and manufacturing and developed many new products, both of which allow us to stay current and competitive in the various markets we serve.
What has improved since you started working with the company?
We’ve made significant improvements to our manufacturing procedures, documentation, and work instructions. When I started, another operator explained the job to you, and you jotted down a few keynotes in a notebook. Everything was in your notebook or your memory. We now have documentation control with digital work instructions and detailed procedures that are used every day.
In the past, we also had “special” parts that were made by one person. We’ve now integrated those parts into our standard lines and cross-trained operators on all parts in our standard lines. This means that if someone is out of the office for any reason, things still run smoothly!
What has been your most memorable moment at The Fredericks Company?
A few years ago, we had a substantial timer order with what seemed like an impossible deadline. We pulled all our resources, using glassworkers and other employees from other departments. Everyone came together for a single goal, and we were able to ship the order on time. We then celebrated with a candy buffet!
What do you enjoy most about your position?
I enjoy working with my team, management, and other department supervisors. Everyone at The Fredericks Company is willing to share their knowledge and work together to provide our customers with quality products.
Before working at The Fredericks Company, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked at Sav-a-Lot food store. There were no price scanners so nothing had a price sticker on it; you had to memorize all the prices!
