The Fredericks Company, a leading ISO 9001:2008 registered manufacturer of electrolytic tilt sensing and inclinometer products, has announced availability of a new Vehicle Predictive Roll-Over (V-PRO) System for tactical defense, government, fire and emergency vehicles.
Developed jointly by Fredericks and Archangel Systems, the new V-PRO System utilizes The Fredericks Company’s display annunciator unit in combination with Archangel System’s extensive predictive rollover algorithms to predict future vehicle rollover risk and provide warning outputs as both audible and visual alerts.
A two-box solution, V-PRO consists of a remote mounted Sensor Predictor Unit (SPU) and a panel mounted Display Annunciator Unit (DAU) with LED lamps. In its standard configuration, V-PRO is a standalone system that is ideal for upgrade of existing vehicle fleets or new vehicle production. With a CAN bus upgrade option, vehicle dynamics and rollover risk assessments are available to the vehicle data bus. This enables other functions such as electronic stability systems, advanced restraint systems, enhanced egress solutions, improved crew cueing techniques and diagnostics for condition based maintenance.
The system also features a NVG compatible display with dimmer control and MIL-STD38999 filtered connector, requires single supply voltage (24 V nominal), is MIL-STD 810 compliant, and is preloaded with software for multiple LVT variants with the LVT variant selected by cable strapping as an optional feature.
The V-PRO’s predictive algorithms serve two operational purposes: 1) enhanced situational awareness to the driver or co-driver for corrective actions to avoid rollover and 2) additional time for the onboard crew to brace themselves when rollover is imminent. To support logistics and maintenance operations, the memory in each V-PRO unit can be preloaded with predictive rollover risk models for up to 16 unique vehicle models or variants, with the vehicle of interest identified by external switches. This enables the same product part number to be installed in any of a range of vehicles or variants, at the depot or field level, with performance accuracy insured.
V-PRO serves many purposes with its applications with the primary focus being the safety of the crew and protection of the assets, we call it “get me home safely” approach to vehicle management.
